Examiner and Jury
We are delighted to welcome the talented dance artist and Horton Technique Teacher, Rayan Lecurieux Durival, into the MIU Family.
Rayan is from French Guyana, where he trained before relocating to Paris to join the Institut de Formation Rick Odums for 2 years. Rayan was accepted at The Ailey School and became a scholarship holder for 3 years.
Since then, Rayan has performed in the Black Iris Project movie "Wild," an Emmy-nominated Dance Film series by choreographer Jeremy McQueen. He has also performed with Bill T. Jones at the Park Avenue Armoury for the world premiere of "Deep Blue Sea," along with choreographers such as Christopher Huggins, Jennifer Muller, Jamel Gaines, Francesca Harper, Norbert De la Cruz III, and Ray Mercer.
In addition, he has performed with Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (as a Student), Martha Graham Dance Company, Parsons Dance, Collage Dance Collective, Buglisi Dance Theatre, RuddDance, Ballet Ashani, and Jennifer Muller/The Wor—Rayann and joined Creative Outlet in 2021.
Rayan Horton's lesson is an experience in which his contagious energy and love for the technique delight our students. His understanding of the traditional Horton method, paired with his versatile experience as a professional dancer, makes him a unique instructor.
We adore his class for its artistic approach and originality. Rayan demonstrates perfectly how to make the technique one's own while following the codified Horton syllabus. Inspiring.
