Laureen Elizabeth is a French Dancer, Choreographer, and Graham Technique Teacher based in France.
She trained and discovered the Graham technique with Pasqualina Noël at the Institut de Formation Rick Odums and joined her Modern Dance Ensemble based in Paris. Laureen extensively performed the Graham repertory and works from Pearl Primus, Lester Horton, and Paul Taylor.
In love with the Graham technique, she enrolled at the prestigious Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance in New York City, where she lived and performed for many years. Laureen studied the Graham technique at the highest level; she danced influential roles in emblematic Graham pieces such as Acts of Light, Diversion of Angels, Steps in the Street, or Night Journey and performed with Graham 2 directed by Master Teacher Virginie Mécène from 2009 to 2012.
Laureen also trained with the Martha Graham Dance Company and performed in many companies in NYC. She graduated with distinction from the Teacher Training at the Graham School. Laureen taught at the Martha Graham School and Peridance before moving to Europe to share her love for the Graham technique. She was always curious to explore new dance styles; she then joined the famous Armstrong Jazz Ballet and performed in many musicals in Paris. She's also a Certified Pilates Teacher, which she regularly teaches along with Graham in vocational schools in France and Europe.
Currently, Laureen teaches at l'Ecole de Ballet - Studios de Biarritz, in the south of France. Her passion and expertise helped develop her fantastic approach to teaching Graham. This precious knowledge makes her class unique, with a clear focus on posture, dynamics, and expression.
Laureen is an inspiring Graham technique instructor; her bright energy is a delight to any student. We are so thrilled to welcome her back at MIU; it is pure joy, and we genuinely want to share her invaluable gift with you all from anywhere you are in the world.
