Facundo Ferreyra is a dancer and Graham Technique instructor born and raised in Argentina.
Facundo began his dance training at Danza Viva Centro de Estudios in Cordoba, Argentina. He continued his vocational training at the Classical Dance School of the Teatro San Martin of Cordoba, where he danced the classical ballet repertoire and had the opportunity to share the stage with Paloma Herrera and the Ballet of the Teatro Colon. Facundo attended the prestigious Julio Bocca school with a full scholarship and quickly joined Julio Bocca's Youth Ballet, performing their diverse repertory in Argentina.
Facundo then joined the Taller de Danzas del Teatro San Martin in Buenos Aires, where he fell in love with the Graham Technique and graduated with a degree in contemporary dance. He also worked with choreographers and artists such as Ramiro Soñez, Victoria Viberti, Ines Armas, Leila Tschopp, Mauro Cacciatore, Cecilia Szalkowicz, and Sofia Ballve. He ended his degree with a scholarship of excellence.
Shortly after Facundo joined Graham 2, he studied the Graham repertory, such as Acts of Light (1981), Appalachian Spring (1944), Lamentation (1930), and El Penitente (1940), under the direction of Virginie Mécène. Enriched by these various experiences, he returned to Argentina and began teaching Graham Technique.
He has taught in Argentina for three years at Danza Viva Centro de Estudios, directed by Cristina Gomez Comini, also at the Provincial University of Córdoba, in different studios in Buenos Aires and at the Universidad Nacional de las Artes, sharing his love for Graham with students of different levels.
Since returning to New York City in 2023, Facundo performed with Bradley Shelver and the Martha Graham Dance Company for Dior and Saks on Fifth Avenue in the Holiday Season 2023 light show. Always looking to expand his knowledge on Graham, he's currently furthering his studies at the Martha Graham School, learning from world-renowned teachers such as Peggy Lyman Hayes, Miki Orihara, Lone Larsen, Elizabeth Auclair, Virginie Mécène, Blakeley White-McGuire, Lorenzo Pagano, among others.
For Facundo, Graham allows anyone to be strong and vulnerable at the same time. He is interested in discovering new ways of moving because Graham is a spiritual experience for everyone. There are no ideal bodies; it is just pure work, community and unity with absolute commitment and love for what we do.
We cannot wait to share Facundo's Excellent class at M-Intensive University.
